How The Diviner Device Works
The Diviner provides a refined, geometry-based solution to complex needle placement using any standard linear probe in short-axis or off-plane orientations. This device ensures consistent needle delivery to targeted depths at an optimal angle for smooth guidewire advancement. Once access is established, the guide is easily removed, allowing clinicians to finish the procedure using their standard technique without interruption.
Step 01
Depth: Geometry that matches the vessel.
The instrument operates on the fundamental principles of a 30-60-90 triangle to ensure geometric precision during procedures. Once the physician identifies the exact vein depth through ultrasound imaging, they select the specific attachment that matches that measurement. Each guide features a unique tail length that correlates to a preset depth, transforming needle placement into a highly predictable and repeatable process for every patient.
For a vessel at a 2 cm depth, the physician selects the attachment with a 3.46 cm tail to ensure perfect geometric alignment. This 'measuring spoon' style set includes 0.25 cm increments from the 1.5cm mark to the 2.5 cm mark, allowing the clinician to precisely match the tool to the specific anatomy of each patient. By choosing the exact corresponding size, the needle intersects the vein directly beneath the probe in clear view, maintaining a trajectory that is mathematically optimized for successful guidewire passage.
Step 02
Angle: Optimized for guidewire passage.
To maximize Seldinger technique success, the device targets the ideal 30–45° angle window essential for seamless guidewire advancement. Utilizing a standard 6 cm needle, the guide applies 30-60-90 triangle geometry to maintain a precise 30° approach for all vessels up to 2.25 cm deep, transitioning to a stable 45° angle at depths of 2.25 cm. By intentionally positioning the needle entry point at a calculated distance away from the probe, the system facilitates a shallower, more controlled trajectory that remains strictly within the safe therapeutic range for clinical access.
Step 03
Removal: Designed to stay out of the way.
Our unique design avoids any direct physical connection to the ultrasound probe, allowing clinicians to effortlessly lift or discard the device once vascular access is secured. By eliminating cumbersome attachments, the tool preserves every traditional step of your established medical protocol without requiring any mid-procedure adjustments or extra movements. Once positioned beneath the probe, it remains entirely unobtrusive, ensuring that your refined hand technique and tactile feedback are supported rather than hindered by the equipment.
